Man what a pain in the ass
Wow, what a long week. Last week was pretty much a fun filled week full of many events which I am sure I'll remember for the rest of my life. Sunday, November 11th, I was in a car accident. The whole thing happened out of the blue, like many accidents, and was a real eye opener. To make a long story short, I left my house between 11:00am and 11:30am to hit up the bank and deposit some cash via the ATM. I made it a whole 500 feet from my house where I was stopped awaiting a traffic light. I get the green light and I make it a quarter of the way in the intersection which I am hit by a car.
Now obviously this person blew through a red light and was going around 40-50 MPH. I am not sure on the exact speed but I was hit on my Left Front, right on the head light, and was spun a good 90 degrees to the right and hit another time in the rear left quarter panel. I am not sure how that happened but it worked out where I was flush with the curb, almost as if I had parked my car there, and the lady ended up on an island.
It was a sad sight seeing my car in shambles and all dented up. You can see pictures of my car before and after the wreck in my "photo" section of myspace. Anyhow, I am glad to be ok. I do have some neck and back issues which will take some time to heal. However my life is here which is the most important. I took some x-rays this past week and everything came out ok. I do not have any broken bones or fractures. I do have whiplash and some swelling. I guess that is expected since I was hit hard.
I've been in to several accidents in my life time. However, none have been in own car. I am always the passenger so I had no idea how stressful and what a pain these things are. My whole past week was dealing with the insurance company, getting the auto body lined up, and in general stressing my ass out about the situation. It is so much unneeded stress being introduced in to my life. Not to mention waiting around to hear back from my insurance on issues. Like who is to say this lady will say I am at fault? Who knows, it's happens everyday.
I did have a police on the scene and I very sure the police report is truthful and tells what happens. However it is still a he said she said situation since I do not have witnesses. You get in to an accident in Oakland and people just pass you on by staring and not caring. I know there were handfuls of people who seen the lady run that light and just drove on by without care. Oh well.
Anyhow, these events have opened my eyes again. Just when reality goes to sleep it hits you. My father used to always say "One day reality is going to slap you in the face." Well it has over and over through out the years. Sometimes you live life and do not think of the thousands of people who are getting into accidents everyday. You tend to forget about all those people who die daily, the people who are hurt daily, and peoples lives that are completely turned around and upside down daily.
I guess that's the point of this blog. Last week was a rash of events which have altered my outlook on life, once again, and allows me to see things different. We all know this stuff but I think the majority of people like to hide it or forget about it. When it happens to you its like the blinders come off and you see shit for what it really is.
Sure this was a simple accident, overall everyone was ok no serious injuries, and things will be replaced. Still, it just goes to show how a normal day can turn upside down and into another direction within seconds.
So my friends please drive safe. You never know when you'll be writing one of these blogs.
P.S
As if back and neck pain are'nt enough. My tooth is clearly infected and needs a root canal asap.
